Occupying the last part of the former RAF Doncaster airfield, the museum ocupies an aircraft hangar and buildings erected in 1940 during the Second World War period
The collection of aircraft being restored by the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum are on view during your visit. They begin with a replica of a 1909 Bleriot XI illustrating the first air meeting in Britain.
The museum continues to tell the development of aviation from a regional perspective which includes Military and Civilian Aircraft from propeller driven aircraft to Mach 2 Jet fighters, helicopter collection featuring types used in the Falklands War, jet and piston engines, a WWII home front exhibition and a Sheffield Blitz Exhibition.
A new exhibition depicting the contribution made by ethnic minorities during World War 2 is also on display.
The model shop has a large stock of modelling kits, books and aviation mementos. Light refreshments are available. The Museum is self funding for all its day to day costs.

The Museum is also open on Tuesdays during school holidays and bank holidays.

By Road:
Leave M18 at jct 3 following signs for Doncaster. Go straight ahead at 1st roundabout then look for the brown aircraft museum signs. Please note that if you use SAT NAV systems the post code will not work. The museum is situated on the Lakeside Leisure Park.

By Public Transport:
At Bus platform C4 in Doncaster Interchange catch bus number 75.
Disembark near the Warner Vue Cinema and follow the brown propeller signs to Aeroventure.
