In the historic village of Silkstone, nestled in the valley below the Church lies the Potting Shed, a brasserie style bistro. The Potting Shed is run by Kate Horsfield and is so named becasue it is sited on the site of the Tom Horsfield's origianl plant nursery potting shed (the nursery now being located opposite). The Potting Shed provides a bistro experience in beautiful surroundings, with the building having won the Millennium Design Award for Barnsley. Kate and her chefs provide diners with freshly prepared dishes using wholesome local ingredients.

Daytime dishes cover a wide variety of styles from sandwiches and homemade soups to more exotic main course dishes in true bistro tradition. A comprehensive wine list is also available. Open 7 days a week for food from 10am to 6pm. Some Friday and Saturday evenings offer an a la carte menu differing from the day, often with live music, please request a list of the future evening dates.
