One of the first University Technical Colleges in the country, UTC Sheffield offers specialist courses designed with employers in two exciting industry areas, Creative & Digital Media and Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing. These areas have been chosen because they are most likely to offer strong career opportunities in the future, not just locally but nationally and internationally.

Students at UTC Sheffield study an academic curriculum – GCSEs and A Levels – alongside their technical learning. The difference is that all academic study relates to employer-led projects and students gain the skills and qualifications to open up opportunities for jobs and university courses.

The UTC offers students outstanding industry facilities and a dynamic business environment. The academic year is divided into six terms, adding up to 40 weeks. The day starts at 8.30am and end at 5.00pm (4.10pm on Mondays and Fridays) to provide a greater range of learning opportunities.

The new £8.5m purpose-built college is located in the heart of Sheffield’s creative and digital industries sector, close to the main rail and bus transport hubs, as well as Sheffield Hallam University’s Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Science.

The UTC student experience is focused and purposeful. Every student has a personal learning plan and is known and supported as an individual by both the Principal and the academic team. With just 600 learners on campus (when full), there is scope to nurture and support individual talent so that each student can reach their potential and achieve their ambitions.
