Details

Dominating the Doncaster skyline the Minster Church of St george is reputed to be one of the best showcases of Gothic architecture in the country. Standing on the site of the original medieval church, which was destroyed by fire in 1853, the Minster was completed in 1858 by Sir George Gilbert Scott (the architect of St Pancra Railway Station, London). It houses a Schulze organ and some stunning examples of Victorian stained glass.

Currently undergoing a major restoration programm, the Minster will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2008.
