The Well Church Sheffield is a new church for the city of Sheffield in the business, social, university & leisure heartland of Ecclesall Road.

The Well exists to house and share the presence of God through words, music, works and wonders. We’re a community that’s learning what it means to follow Jesus and share what we find with the diverse expressions of culture around us. Our heart is to build a relationship with you – whatever your situation in life. We are a church for the whole city, with a particular heart for life on a Ecclesall Road, which is an intersection between students, young adults, businesses, the poor and young families. We passionately believe and hold to the teachings of the Bible. Everything we seek to do is based on the desire to fulfil what God’s word says and born out of a passion to be led by His Holy Spirit.

We’re a new church plant so there’s loads of opportunities to get stuck in, right at the start. Practically this looks like building community with each other by spending time; eating, laughing and crying, experiencing heartfelt worship and engaging with mission in the homes and on the streets of our beautiful city.

Welcome to your new home, welcome to The Well.

The Well church is led by Baptist minister Nick and his wife Marjorie – with a combined background in Christian ministry spanning the past 16 years and working alongside an experienced team representing people from all walks of life.

By Car

Click here for Google Maps and put in where you are travelling from, then discover your best route to The Well in Sheffield and how long it will take. Ecclesall Rd is a busy main road, so allow extra time during rush hours. Postcode is S11 8PR, we’re on the A625. Unless you’re coming from the Peak District/Manchester side, best bet is to get to the ring road A61 until it meets A625 at a roundabout next to Waitrose supermarket.

Sheffield is off the M1 and not far from M18, M62 and A1(M).

The Well is in a very busy part of Sheffield, and the Church does not have a car park. You can park directly outside the church on metered on street parking (50p/hr Mon-Sat), with a weekday bus lane restriction between 7.30-9.30am AND 4.30-6.30pm. There’s lots of metered parking on all the streets around (eg. Neill Rd directly behind the church, S11 8QH). It’s never been a problem to renew your ticket every so often, you shouldn’t need to re-park.

The nearest free street parking is Hunter House Rd and Pinner Rd (S11 8TU), about a 5-7 minute walk away. Also Rustlings Road at S11 7AA (7-10 mins walk) and streets coming off it.

There is a car park along Ecclesall Road at the Berkley Shopping Precinct which has 2 hours free parking but it is always very busy, uses number plate registration and is very strict on times and fines are £100!

Due to the popularity of Ecclesall Road it can also get very busy at rush hour so allow extra time on your journey at peak times.

By Train

The train station is close to the centre of the city, has a taxi rank but poor bus connections. You can walk (8 mins) to the nearest bus stop towards the church. The station is within walking distance of a number of hotels.

Catch a bus to the church (c.20 mins – see by bus) or walk to the church (c. 40 mins – see on foot) from the station, or take a taxi (c.£6, 10 mins).

By Bus

Bus from town centre takes around 20 minutes.

From Sheffield train station: Walk up the slope past the steel waterfall on your right (follow signs for city-centre) to Shoreham Street and cross over. Keep walking straight on up past Sheffield Hallam University on your right. At top of slope cross over and turn left. Walk up to roundabout and cross over at crossing. Turn right up Furnival Gate where bus stop is ahead before you reach Debenhams, opposite Union Street.

Buses to catch from Furnival Gate to Ecclesall Road (near Hickmott Road): 81 to Dore, 82 to Millhouses, and 83 to Bents Green (First bus), 83A to Fullwood and 88 to Bents Green (Stagecoach bus).

We suggest asking for the stop after Berkley Precinct where Tescos is and just before Hunters Bar, in case the driver is unfamiliar with the route.

By Foot

From Sheffield train station: walk up the slope past the steel waterfall on your right to Shoreham Street and cross over. Turn left, keeping Showroom cinema on your right; keep straight to the end of road passing Red Tape Studios and BBC Radio Sheffield.

At the end of the road, turn right up the dual carriageway, St Mary’s Gate, and cross it immediately. Continue right up St Mary’s Gate towards St Mary’s Church and Bramhall Lane roundabout. Cross Bramhall Lane through underpass and keep straight on.

Cross over London Road at the lights and keep straight on until the next roundabout. Turn left onto Moore Street keeping Waitrose on your left.

Continue up Moore Street which becomes Ecclesall Road. Quite a way along past many shops including Tesco and Nonna’s restaurant, you will reach The Well on your left – its the massive stone church building, next door to the Porter Brook pub.
